1968

One of the great years in rock was 1968. Cream...Jimi...Jefferson Airplane...Steppenwolf. My folks were about 27 or 28 and had nothing to do with "the scene". My dad was in the Air Force so I suppose he didn't like the anti-establishment movement of the time...I'll bet he didn't like hippies or their "make love not war" message, but I'll never know. I don't recall him ever talking of things like that...he didn't really talk about much. This is a photo of him in 1968.

One of the things I really appreciate now was how he caught me up on the fractions part of math which somehow I totally missed in school from constantly moving from one country to the next. Believe me, the USAF had need for Capt. Robinson in plenty of different countries for plenty of different reasons. I got to 5th grade and all the students knew fractions and for some reason I didn't, so Mrs. Boggs had to call my folks and tell them that "Blade needed tutoring on his fractions". So my dad spent a couple of nights explaining that to me and I went to school and I was caught up, just like that. Nice work Pops!

The Nissan dealer in Raleigh is replacing my entire exhaust system now...it's going to cost about $2400, not $4000 like the local dealership said...but whatever. Now I know why it's called an exhaust system...it has plumb exhausted me. Not only that, but the clutch has gone bad 6 months after Southern States had replaced it (the bushings leaked and went dry) and they guarantee their work a little but not much...the warranty covered the time but not the miles so they offered to "split" the cost of repairing the clutch with me...$400. I just don't know what to say. I have nothing to say. 2008 has got be a better year.

I heard on my own station you can adopt wild horses around here for about $20.00. Let me say...I wouldn't mind doing that one day. I saw a show on a Saturday afternoon about 5 years ago about a British guy (a bloke) who had a farm in Orlando for wounded and abused horses and I remember him saying how horses had been the most abused animal since the beginning of time and he was doing what he could. I would love to leave this earth having done something like that. I was thinking maybe I'll have a pasture when I go to radio pasture. Horses and goats man.

I love me a durned goat.
